Sarah Silverman & Adam Carolla Launch YouTube Channels With Veteran Comedy Producer (Exclusive) – The Hollywood Reporter

The producers best known for their work with David Letterman and Jimmy kimmel are set to announce on Monday that they are creating a few YouTube channels with partners that include Sarah Silverman, Adam Carolla and others.

The two channels, one called Jash and the other called Video Podcast Network, will come from HaChaCha, a new production company co-founded by Daniel Kelison, who co-created The spectacle of man, was the original producer of Jimmy Kimmel Live and was a producer of Late Night with David Letterman and The Late Show With David Letterman.

HaChaCha also includes as partners Doug DeLuca, a co-founder of HaChaCha who is also the co-executive producer of Jimmy Kimmel Live, and Mickey Meyer, who worked in production on West wing and breaking Bad and now produces online shows. HaChaCha has also partnered with Fullscreen, which operates a global network of YouTube channels.

HaChaCha will share the money he earns with the talents that appear on both channels, in “a kind of United Artists approach,” Kellison said.

YouTube has funded dozens of new channels, invested money in them from the start, was reimbursed for the advertising revenue they generate, and then took a percentage of the profits afterwards. HaChaCha hasn’t revealed how much money YouTube has put in, but the internet video leader typically doesn’t invest more than $ 500,000 in any of its partner channels.

“They gave us plenty of money to sow this,” Kellison said. “I would say they were very generous, actually.”

HaChaCha’s channels are two of more than a dozen news items YouTube is expected to report to MIPCOM on Monday.

HaChaCha and Jash’s video podcast network is slated to launch in January. Jash is described as a “comedy collective” which will feature content from Silverman as well as Michael Cera, Tim & Eric and Reggie Watts.

“We’re all super excited to be able to have this cyber playground where we can do stuff with our friends,” said Silverman. “And also, I’m pretty.”

Video Podcast Network consists of video versions of podcasts, the first to sign up being Carolla, which already has the most popular podcast on the Internet with some 350,000 downloads per day.

“Being able to watch shows like mine on the Video Podcast Network is the next step in the traditional network model’s march to irrelevance,” said Carolla.

Kellison added, “With the growing popularity of smart TVs, it’s inevitable that you’ll soon be watching all of your shows as simply as you select apps on your smart phones. “
