Actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus and director Nicole Holofcener will reunite on “Beth and Don,” a new comedy about a novelist whose marriage begins to unravel after hearing her husband offer a candid appraisal of her work.

The duo previously teamed up to great success on “Enough Said” in 2013. Louis-Dreyfus will produce, as well as the image star, with Holofcener writing the screenplay in addition to directing it, variety.com reports.

Here’s the official logline: “Beth is a New York novelist in an incredibly happy marriage to Don, who loves and supports her in every way. One day, when Beth hears him admit that he hasn’t liked her writing for years, it threatens to destroy everything good in their lives.

The premise sounds right down the aisle of Holofcener.

The writer and director showed a great talent for dissecting relationships and creating characters with relatable weaknesses and issues.

“This film is the breath of fresh air our distributors have been waiting for in a comedy, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to unveil this project with our longtime friends at Likely Story,” said Glen Basner, CEO of FilmNation Entertainment.

“Nicole and Julia’s combined comedic talent will make for a film that is irresistible and all too easy to understand for moviegoers everywhere.

“Nicole and Julia are the masters of modern human comedy – stories where we can see our own awkwardness and blind spots in every well-meaning character. As with their latest collab ‘Enough Said’, ‘Beth and Don’ is a bright and daring story of people trying to do well and hilariously failing,” Bregman said.

Louis-Dreyfusa is best known for her work on landmark television comedies such as “Veep” and “Seinfeld.” She recently joined the MCU, appearing as Fontaine’s Valentina Allegra in “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” and “Black Widow.”

She has also completed production on A24’s next film, “Tuesday,” which is described as a “mother-daughter fairy tale.” She will join Jonah Hill and Eddie Murphy in an untitled comedy feature directed by Kenya Barris for Netflix.

Filming for “Beth and Don” will begin in early spring 2022 in New York City.
