John Cena in talks to star in an action-comedy movie


John Cena is in negotiations to star in the action-comedy film, Freelanceaccording to Deadline.

The film should be directed by Pierre Morel, who has already made Taken and District 13.

Below is a synopsis of the film:

“The project, with a budget of around $40 million, follows a special forces operator (Cena) who decides to retire from the military and start a family in the United States. After several years of mortgage payments, school dropouts, backyard barbecues, and trying to conform to life in the suburbs, he decides to come out of retirement to take on a gig providing security for a female reporter while ‘She interviews a cruel dictator who may or may not have ordered the attack on him and his men. When a military coup breaks out in the middle of the interview, the three are forced to escape into the jungle where they must survive the elements, the military, and each other.

The film is due to start early next year in Colombia.

Cena continues to stay busy as his suicide squad spin off, The peacemaker, begins airing in January. It should also appear in Fast and Furious 10as well as Hulu’s sequel holiday friends.

As far as WWE goes, Cena completed his last in August at Slam summerlosing to WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns.
