“Moments like these are rare – let’s make the most of them!” There are movies for almost every other holiday, now we finally have an Easter movie! Universal has released the first official trailer for Easter Sundaythe new comedy starring the stand-up comic Jo Koydirected by comedy genius Jay Chandrasekhar (from super soldiers, dread club, Oktoberfest, The babymakers). Organized around a family reunion to celebrate Easter Sunday, the comedy will be based on the life experiences and stand-up comedy of Jo Koy. It is described as a love letter to her Filipino-American community. Easter Sunday features an all-star comedy cast with Jimmy O. Yang, Tia Carrere, Brandon Wardelthe Tony nominee Eva Noblezada, Lydie Gaston, Asif Ali, Rodney at, Eugene Cordero, Jay Chandrasekhar, Tiffany Haddishand Lou Diamond Phillips. Looks like another Judd Apatow movie where a real comedian plays himself and takes care of his crazy family.

Stand-up comedy sensation Jo Koy (known for his specials Jo Koy: In His Elements, Jo Koy: Comin’ in Hot) stars as a man returning home for an Easter celebration with his rowdy family, bickering, eating, drinking, laughing and loving , in this love letter to his Filipino-American community. Easter Sunday is directed by American comedy filmmaker Jay Chandrasekhar (member of The Broken Lizard troupe), film director puddle cruiser, super soldiers, dread club, Dukes of Hazzard, Oktoberfest, The babymakersand Super Troopers 2 previously. The screenplay is written by Ken Cheng (series Wilfred, Beta). Produced by Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich of Rideback. Universal will release Jay Chandrasekhar’s Easter Sunday in cinemas nationwide from August 5, 2022 later this summer. First impression? Funny or not?
