GHOSTS Actor Utkarsh Ambudkar Is Developing Rap Musical Movie For Disney+ Titled WORLD’S BEST – GeekTyrant

Ghosts and The stall actor Utkarsh Ambudkar is developing a new rap musical for Disney+ titled best in the world. He co-wrote, produced and starred in the film, which tells the story of a young mathematician who vows to become the best MC in the world.

best in the world follows Prem, 12, played by Manny Magnus“as he sails through life as this high school student in high school math class. After his best friend Jerome dumps him for the popular group, Prem never feels alone again, despite the support of his mother Priya (Punam Patel). But when Prem finds out that his late father Suresh (Ambudkar) was a great rapper, his new fate is sealed. With renewed purpose (and a few helpful, if imaginary, appearances from Suresh), Prem vows to break out of the “math kid” mold and become the best MC in the world.

Ambudkar wrote the screenplay with Jessica Jones writer Jamie King. They have been writing together for several years on various projects. Ambudkar also collaborates with a number of friends, including Thomas Kael, which earned a Grammy nomination for Best Musical with 2020s Freestyle Love Supremein which Ambudkar co-starred.

Ambudkar said in a statement, “Collaborating with Disney on a feature film about a South Asian nuclear family with music at its heart means a lot to me personally. I look forward to bringing best in the world to life with friends and colleagues I have known for a long time, as well as people whose work is relatively new to me. After seeing his first feature, I knew Roshan Sethi could capture the intricacies, humor and energy of World’s Best. Manny Magnus is a special find. He has been dancing and playing his own music since the age of 6. And I know firsthand that Punam Patel will bring laughs and warmth to the role of Priya, the matriarch. I hope best in the world will be super fun, both to do and to watch.

The film will be directed by Roshan Sethi (7 days) and the film will start shooting in May. Kail writes and co-produces the music with a longtime collaborator Charlie B. Wilder, while Savanna Kotecha (Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga) is the musical director.
