Abu Dhabi: NYU Abu Dhabi Art Gallery (NYUAD) has announced its public program in May and June as part of its ongoing exhibition, Parthenogenesis: Ramin Haerizadeh, Rokni Haerizadeh, Hesam Rahmanian. Free events include family gallery tours, a film series called RRH Cinema, and an artist talk on the nature of collaboration and the creation of new works in the different disciplines of artists.
The program will allow participants and visitors to engage in conversations around ideas of refuge, artistic creation and cross-disciplinary collaboration. Each event encourages different entry points through speaking, listening, viewing and doing. Events will begin with a curatorial tour led by NYUAD Art Gallery Executive Director Maya Allison, and subsequent events include a one-day family tour, an event hosted by the gallery’s Teen Advisory Board. art, an artist talk and a series of films titled Cinema RRHto screen works that have played a significant role in the creative development of artists.
Commenting on the program, Executive Director of NYUAD Art Gallery Maya Allison said, “An important factor in the continued success of Parthenogenesis is Ramin Haerizadeh, Rokni Haerizadeh, Hesam Rahmanian path to have brought to life the inspiration they find in the UAE artistic community. For these artists, art is a living, breathing conversation with the audience. Their work contains deeply serious elements integrated with playful elements, in a landscape that evolves over time. We are delighted to present a multitude of events that invite visitors into this landscape and this evolution, to become collaborators themselves, with the art, the artists, and to share their various influences.

Parthenogenesis features the trio of artists, originally from Iran, who have adopted the United Arab Emirates as their home. They are known for their immersive and surreal projects, performances, paintings and animations, which have been exhibited internationally, in multiple biennials and major museums. In their first institutional solo exhibition in the United Arab Emirates, the artists create a landscape in the gallery that traces how a work of art develops through an artist’s relationships with others. Parthenogenesis bears witness to their 13 years in Dubai as artists living and working together, creating an ever-changing landscape and tapestry of ideas and dialogues with collaborators, artists and visitors in their home.

Tuesday, May 10, 6:30 p.m., The NYUAD Art Gallery
Join NYUAD Chief Curator Maya Allison for a tour of the current exhibit Parthenogenesis: Ramin Haerizadeh, Rokni Haerizadeh, Hesam Rahmanian, which explores the many different forces that shape the work of artists. Attendees will see dance forms evolve across cultures, past works of art and previous wars – as well as news today – interact with the course of the natural world to offer visitors a new imagined future at through the poetry of the word, the gesture and the painted line. The visit will be followed by a refreshment.
Teen Council Event: Metamorphosis: Collaborate. Negotiate. let’s go
Saturday, May 14, 4 p.m., The NYUAD Art Gallery
NYUAD Art Gallery Teen Council invites the public to interact with the ongoing exhibition Parthenogenesis exploring the artistic practices of artists Ramin Haerizadeh, Rokni Haerizadeh and Hesam Rahmanian. Participants will collaborate with each other, finding ways to negotiate through group drawing, collage and painting. Reflecting the creative strategy, participants will take turns drawing on a shared canvas at their leisure and have the freedom to come back to their work later if they wish.

Families can take a trip together through the Parthenogenesis exhibition, exploring the artists’ works with the art gallery’s youth guide. While the guide is aimed at ages 10 and up, the event welcomes all ages from children and adults.
