Colm Meaney to direct black comedy movie ‘Three Day Millionaire’

“Three Day Millionare” will see the famous Irish actor once again return to the realm of comedy films.

Colm Meaney has been announced as the lead actor in a comedy film from a new British production company.

In the past, Shush Films has primarily worked on commercials, but has branched out into television and film in recent years. ‘Three Day Millionaire’ is only their second feature film. Their first, “Destination: Dewsbury”, was released in 2019.

Jack Spring, who directed ‘Destination: Dewsbury’, will return to helm this upcoming feature, with a script by Paul Stephenson, and the two share ownership of the independent production company. Spring made his directorial debut aged just 19, making him the UK’s youngest feature film director.

Billed as a dark comedy, the film will follow a gang of trawlers who, after being unfairly fired, decide to carry out the heist of the century in their home town of Grimsby, UK.

Joining Colm Meaney for his new comedy film will be Robbie Gee from ‘Snatch’ and ‘Small Axe’ and Jonas Armstrong from ‘The Bay’ and ‘The Drowning’, Melissa Batchelor from ‘I May Destroy You’, Lauren Foster from ‘Holby City ‘, and James Burrows and Sam Glen of ‘Coronation Street’.

Finglas-born Colm “Jaysus” Meaney, known for his iconic Irish film roles in ‘The Snapper’ and ‘War of the Buttons’, as well as his role in ‘Star Trek: The Next Generation’ as a chef Miles O’Brien has several projects on the horizon.

Filming is already underway on ‘Three Day Millionaire,’ with a 2022 release date. Meaney also has four other projects currently in post-production, including religious thriller ‘Confession’ and horror titled ‘Unwelcome’ with the star. of “Derry Girls” Jamie-Lee O’Donnell.
