Alison Brie Joins John Cena-Led Action Comedy Film


According to The Hollywood ReporterGolden Globe nominee Alison Brie has officially signed on to star opposite John Cena in the upcoming comedy action flick titled Freelance. Brie is set to play the role of a journalist trying to save her career by interviewing a dictator. Production is expected to begin later this month in Colombia.

Freelance will be led by Taken filmmaker Pierre Morel from a screenplay written by Jacob Lentz. It will be produced by AGC Studios and Endurance Media, who are co-funding the project. It will be executive produced by Steve Richard of Endurance Media, alongside Renee Tab and Christopher Tuffin of Sentient Entertainment.

“The film centers on a former special forces operator who, desperate to escape his monotonous life, takes a job providing security for a journalist who hopes to save her career by interviewing a dictator,” reads the synopsis. “Things go awry when a military coup breaks out mid-interview, and the mismatched duo, along with the dictator, escape into the jungle where they must survive the military chasing them, the animals chasing them. hunt and among themselves.”

Brie is best known for her performances on TV shows such as The community, Mad Menand Netflix GLOW. The latter earned a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress in a Television Musical or Comedy Series.
