A Classic American Comedy Comes to Charles Bender PAC

The Texas Repertory Theater continues its 2022 season in the beautiful and historic Charles Bender Performing Arts Center with neil simonThe hysterical comedy of Last of the Red Hot Lovers. This new production features the Texas Rep favorite and Houston theater veteran Jeffrey S.Lane, Lauren Hance, Morgan Tyler and Rachel Brownhill under the direction of Texas Repertory Artistic Director Steven Fenley. Last of the Red Hot Lovers will open July 15 and run through July 31.

Barney Cashman is fifty-seven years old, married, father of three children and a successful businessman when he realizes that his life is beyond him. Barney realized his whole life could be summed up in one word: fun. And Barney realized that “nice” just isn’t enough. He wants to experience his secret fantasies and dreams at least once, and so he decides to change that. We follow our hero as he takes part in a cascading series of comedic mistakes and miscalculations that can only be engineered by the brilliant mind of neil simon. He makes several attempts at seduction, only to learn that it is much more complicated and difficult than he could have ever imagined. neil simon‘s Last of the Red Hot Lovers examines what it means to grow old and asks the question, “What do you do when it seems like your life hasn’t been lived to its fullest?”
